Responsibilities:

• Job will entail setting up systems, plan take off, subcontractor/ material vendor negotiations, submittals and scheduling. Projects and controls construction costs by collecting and studying information; controlling construction costs.
• Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements; setting priorities.
• Prepares construction budget by studying home plans; updating specifications; identifying and projecting costs for each elevation.
• Evaluates offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements.
• Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating price.
• Maintains cost keys and price masters by updating information.
• Resolves cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
• Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
• Maintains continuity among corporate, division, and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

This is a full time position, located in the Jacksonville home office working directly with the owner, Cab McIvor.

Giles McIvor is looking for a full time Assistant Superintendent in Orlando Florida working directly with the Orlando Project Manager.  This is a great entry level position for an individual looking to move into construction management. Giles McIvor is a Jacksonville, FL based commercial contractor that focuses on large and smaller scale projects.  Our team are community oriented and assist in our local communities and abroad with mission work.  We are looking to add additional team- and community-oriented talent to our team.

Requirements:

• Working knowledge of construction disciplines, cost control, construction sequencing, scheduling, safety regulations, drawings and construction documents required.
• Proficient in blueprint reading and have working knowledge of materials, processes, and equipment involved in all field activities.
• Accurate record-keeping of daily activities including daily reports and equipment logs.
• Ability to gather data, identify discrepancies, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to communicate effectively with others through good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry tools, materials, and equipment up to 50 pounds and must frequently climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards and adheres to all safety regulations and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Ability to read plans and have experience working on construction jobs.
• Previous experience managing construction as a foreman a plus.
• Driver’s license required.
